Local Events Offer Fresh Goods and Community Clean-Up Opportunities

Marathon is buzzing with activity as the community welcomes both the return of its weekly Farmers' Market and prepares for upcoming Amnesty Days, offering residents opportunities to enjoy local goods and contribute to a tidier village and town. These events are key to the community's rhythm, providing valuable services and a chance for neighbors to connect.

The Marathon Farmers' Market is now underway, bringing a delightful array of fresh goods to the Village Green every Friday. From 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, shoppers can explore selections of local meats, farm-fresh eggs, and homemade breads. Regional vendors also offer seasonal flowers and unique handcrafted goods, perfect for gifts or a treat for yourself. In case of inclement weather, the market thoughtfully relocates indoors to the Civic Center, ensuring the community can still enjoy their weekly provisions. The market is a beloved local tradition, enriching our community with high-quality, locally sourced products through early September.

Looking ahead, residents of both the Village and Town of Marathon should mark their calendars for important community clean-up events: Amnesty Days. These coordinated efforts provide an excellent chance to dispose of various household items responsibly.

The Village of Marathon will hold its Amnesty Day on Saturday, May 16, 2026. From 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM, residents can bring accepted items to the Tannery Street Highway Department. The Village's event is set to accept white goods, freon-free items, furniture, mattresses, and electronics. It's important to note that tires will not be accepted at this location.

On the very same day, Saturday, May 16, 2026, the Town of Marathon will host its Amnesty Day, running from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The Town's collection site will be at the Town of Marathon Highway Garage on Mill Street. This event will accept a broader range of materials, including construction and demolition wastes, white goods, Freon-free items, electronics, mattresses, and scrap metal. Similar to the Village's event, tires will not be accepted by the Town.

Residents are encouraged to review the specific accepted items and operating hours for both the Village and Town Amnesty Days to ensure a smooth and efficient visit. These community clean-up initiatives are vital for maintaining the beauty and safety of our shared spaces, reflecting the collective care Marathon residents have for their environment. Whether you're looking for fresh produce or clearing out clutter, Marathon’s event calendar has something for everyone.
