Today was election day for the Board of Education. On the ballot was budget approval, a measure to buy four diesel buses, and the main event: three seats on the board.
Six candidates ran for the three seats.
Voting started at noon. By 7:00 PM, around 425 people had cast their ballots. This number exceeds the past two elections, which saw 334 (2024) and 187 (2025) voters, with 2 hours left of voting. It is great that people are getting out to vote in an election this important for our district. The will of the people is only heard when voters vote!
The final total of voters rose to: 547
After the polls closed at 9:00 PM, the Board held a meeting to read out the results.
The budget passed - 390 yes; 131 no
Ballot measure for the buses passed - 321 yes; 195 no
The three new board members are:
Kristin Kashuba
Richard Stearns
Jared Lapin
The new members will be sworn in on July 9 at the reorganization board meeting.
Thank you to all who cast their ballot!
