Marathon Legend in NYSPHSAA Hall of Fame Class

The New York State Public High School Athletics Association (NYSPHSAA) announced its 2026 Hall of Fame Class to be inducted in Buffalo at the end of July.

One of the inductees is Marathon’s own, Carla Tagliente. Tagliente is one of the best field hockey players to ever play in New York state. She holds fourth all-time overall goals scored at 159 and eighth all-time in single-season goals at 51. She led Marathon to three consecutive state titles from 1994 to 1996.

Tagliente was a true three-sport athlete at Marathon with the second-most points in basketball (1,692) and the school record in triple jump for track.

Tagliente went on to play for the University of Maryland and the US National Team. After college, she entered coaching at various Division 1 programs and is currently the head coach at Princeton, a position she has held since 2016.

It's great to see Marathon alumni be recognized for their amazing achievements as Olympians!
