Marathon Modified Girls Basketball Goes Undefeated

The 7th-grade girls modified basketball team at Marathon Central Schools finished off their undefeated 12-0-0 season with a 37-19 win against Southern Cayuga Central School District back in March.

Head Coach Sav Montoya said, "The drive this group of athletes had to learn more about the game, build up their teammates, and know their plays by heart is what set them apart from their opponents. Although the fast breakaways seemed to be their strong point, their teamwork, communication, and hustle on both ends of the court were what truly made them successful all season long."

Montoya continued, "The practices and back-to-back games with the 8th-grade girls are what keep these teams close-knit and empowered within their cohort."

This team of eight girls shows great promise for the future of Marathon Athletics.
