Peck Memorial Library Announces Summer Reading Program

The Peck Memorial Library is preparing to launch its popular summer reading program, "Adventure Begins at Your Library," inviting residents of all ages to dive into new books and participate in engaging activities as the school year winds down. Designed to keep minds active and imaginations soaring during the summer break, the program offers a variety of ways for Marathon families to connect with literature and each other.

Starting in mid-June, the library will begin signing up participants. Children and teens can track their reading progress to earn prizes, helping to combat the "summer slide" and foster a lifelong love of reading. Weekly story times for younger children, often featuring crafts and games, are a highlight, providing a free and enriching activity for local families right here in the village.

While the program traditionally focuses on youth, adults are also encouraged to participate in a parallel reading challenge. This initiative aims to highlight the library's extensive collection and provide a shared community experience, whether someone is revisiting a classic or discovering a new author. The library staff notes that fostering a love for reading across all age groups strengthens the fabric of our community.
