Put Your Running Shoes On, the 5K Run for the Scholars is Almost Here!

The Marathon community is lacing up its sneakers once again for the 20th Annual 5K Run for the Scholars, scheduled for Saturday, June 27, 2026. This event, a local favorite, combines athletic competition with a vital cause: supporting the Marathon Scholarship Foundation.

Event Overview

The race takes runners through the scenic village of Marathon. With just a few slight rolling hills, it’s an ideal route for both seasoned runners looking for a personal best and casual walkers enjoying a summer morning.

Time: 9:00 AM – 11:30 AM (Registration closes at 8:30 AM)
Location: 1 East Main Street, Marathon, NY 13803 (Starts and finishes on Main Street)

Registration Details

Early registration is highly encouraged to save money and guarantee race swag.

Early Bird (Prior to June 14): $25.00
Late Registration (After June 14 & Race Day): $30.00
Special Online Pricing: $27.50 (Includes online processing fees)
Perk: All pre-registered athletes are guaranteed a True Classic Performance Multi-Colored Shirt. Race day entries will receive shirts on a first-come, first-served basis.

Awards and Categories

The race offers a variety of awards to celebrate top performers:

Overall: First Place Overall Male and Female.
Masters: First Place, Masters Male and Female.
Age Groups: Race Bag Awards for the top three finishers in each age group.
Age Brackets: Categories start at 14 & under, then move in ten-year increments from age 15 up to 65+.
Note: If the race exceeds 150 pre-entries by June 1st, age groups will be expanded to five-year increments!

Post-Race Celebration

The fun doesn’t end at the finish line. After the race, participants are invited to an awards ceremony on the village green. Post-race food and refreshments will be provided to help runners refuel while they celebrate their achievements.

Logistics and Facilities

Parking: Available at the Marathon High School and Lovell’s Field. Please be mindful of "No Parking" signs along the race route.
Restrooms: Facilities will be accessible inside the High School.
Packet Pick-up: Registrations and race packets can be collected at the high school before the start.

Proceeds from the race go directly to the Marathon Scholarship Foundation, helping local students pursue higher education.
